Informational use only
PetroCoordinates is an informational tool. Locations derive from TX RRC, NM OCD, and OK OCC public records. Verify on the ground before excavation or entry. We show our sources; we don't show numbers we can't back.
We do not silently correct or re-project what the agencies publish. Where a state's datum is unambiguous we can offer a WGS84-normalised coordinate alongside the original; Oklahoma's is not, so we serve Oklahoma's coordinates as published and say so rather than shift a well by 50–200 m under our own authority. The original, agency-published coordinate is always the record of truth.
Nothing here is a survey, a land-title opinion, an as-built record, or a substitute for one-call / 811 notification and the locate procedures your work already requires. A coordinate is a starting point for finding something, not authorisation to dig near it, drive onto it, or enter it.
Where the data comes from, and what that means
The underlying records are published by state agencies and are only as accurate as those agencies made them. Some locations were surveyed; some were reported by an operator; some were digitised off a map. We label which is which on every record, and we label what is missing rather than inferring it — New Mexico, for example, does not publish bottom-hole locations at all, and we say so instead of drawing a lateral we cannot see.
Datum matters. A coordinate in NAD27 and the same coordinate in NAD83 can be tens of metres apart in Texas — and 50–200 m apart in Oklahoma. Every coordinate we display carries its datum label; a coordinate copied without that label is no longer a coordinate we stand behind.
No warranty
The site and the apps are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any location is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any decision you are about to make with it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, property damage, injury, or regulatory penalty arising from use of, or reliance on, the information provided.
Subscriptions
PetroCoordinates Pro is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewable subscription. The app shows the price and billing period for your App Store region before purchase. If an introductory trial is offered, the app shows its duration and the price that begins afterward before you subscribe.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when purchase is confirmed. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account subscription settings. Apple handles billing and refund requests; we do not receive your payment-card details.
Deleting a PetroCoordinates account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Pro includes the capabilities described in the purchase screen, including unlimited well lookups, offline saved wells, field notes, and sharing. Basic daily well lookups and the coordinate converter remain available without a paid subscription.
Use of the iOS app is also governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Acceptable use
Use the apps for their purpose. Do not scrape or bulk-export the data set, resell it, or present it as your own; the state records are public, and you are welcome to go get them from the states directly.
